Weed prevention in garden beds
Early Spring/Early Fall
We apply a pre emergent application to beds with ornamental plants, flowers, and trees. The product will coat the soil and prevent germination of all seeds that come in contact with this barrier (if seeding flowers let us know). The best time for the application is prior to mulching. The treatment is able to penetrate and absorb within the uppermost soil layer. Applications over mulching simply requires watering for ten minutes to get the best effectiveness. We use products that are safe around most plants since the barrier is on the surface of the soil not deep within the plant root zone. Two applications per year are required for the prevention of summer and winter weeds. Using this method of weed prevention can reduce the amount of weed killer herbicides applied to your garden beds throughout the year.

Fertilization in garden beds
Spring/Fall
We fertilize all ornamental plants, shrubs, hedges, perennials with a balanced time released fertilizer. This will allow nutrients to feed plants for several months. Plants need extra food while being established (less than three years), and during stressful periods. Drought, insects, and diseases all make a plants struggle to survive. With added nutrients roots grow deeper, cells develop stronger walls, and growth replenishes. Just to manage drought conditions, we recommend the minimal fertilization of one application per year during the spring. Additional boost throughout the season are applied on a need basis or simply to increase flower yields. Annuals and perennials may benefit from specialized fertilizing.
